Yo-Yo Diets: Kirstie Alleyby Angel Lynn Diamond | More from this Blogger 09 May 2009 05:46 PM If you have seen the latest on the newsstands you have most likely come across Kirstie Alley spanning the covers. I wonder what it would be like and then shudder to think of someone watching my every move. I guess that it is the price that you pay when you are rich and famous. Constantly in the spotlight, everyone is talking about your weight losses and weight gains. Kirstie Alley is the newest victim in the media of body images. Kirstie lost a great deal of weight back a few years on the Jenny Craig program. She was featured as a spokesperson in many publicity stints for Jenny Craig. She was on a talk show modeling her bikini and showing off her new body. She was applauded. Last year she felt she was able to move on and maintain her weight. She decided to let go of the Jenny Craig program and go it on her own. She failed as many of us do in the world of dieting. I understand how this could happen. I have been there too. Yo-yo dieting is more common than people think. People who fall victim to yo-yo dieting lose the weight only to gain it all back again. This is, in part, due to dieting methods that include skipping meals, cutting calories too drastically, taking weight off too quickly, as well as other pitfalls of dieting. There are dangers in losing and then regaining substantial amounts of weight loss. It is noted by researchers who have studied this topic that the death rate among yo-yo dieters is higher and they put themselves at a greater risk for other health problems. In your attempts to lose weight do not concentrate or associate your eating with dieting, but instead make a change in your eating habits themselves and concentrate on lowering your portions of food. Eat healthy foods and exercise, limit your food intake, drink more water and try to keep caffeine intake at a minimum. Keep up your exercise regime at least three times weekly. Kirstie has stated in these articles that she plans to lose all of the weight that she has regained. Hopefully, she can keep it off this time for good and maintain her new eating habits for her own health. Angel Lynn writes in weight loss, single parenting, and health.
