Weight Loss: To Weigh or Not To Weigh

To weigh or not to weigh, that is the question. I know that every expert will tell you not to weigh yourself more than once a week. They will tell you not to be as concerned with your weight, but more so to be concerned with health and fitness. Personally, I cannot do that. Don't get me wrong. I am very concerned about my health and being fit, but I am an obsessive weight taker as well. I make myself crazy with it at times. I find that if I do not keep up with my latest statistics I will fall. If I do not weigh myself every day, yes, every day, I tell myself that it is okay if I eat this one candy bar. I tell myself that I must have done well on that day so I deserve a reward.

Weighing myself every day helps to keep me on my toes. It helps me cut back if I have overdone it. For instance, if I creep up a pound or two then the next day I will have to cut back. My weight yo-yos if I am not careful. I do not mean just a little bit either. It tends to yo-yo in a 7-pound weight range. This is not good. I have not gained back the 70 pounds that I lost, but I am not where I want to be yet. I am doing well this week. I am staying in focus with my goals. I am a little nervous on the weekends, as they are difficult for me. This weekend will be especially difficult to keep control of myself. I am going out to celebrate on Sunday morning with my niece. It is her birthday. We are going to an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. This signals "DANGER" to me, but I am going to try and overcome it and stay in control.

Everyone is different and our main focus should be on being healthy and physically fit. I want more than that though. I have a certain figure in my mind and I am going to get there or not rest until I do. I want to get there so I can finally say I did it. I did what I set out to do. If weighing myself everyday is what keeps me motivated then I will do it. You have to go along with what works best for you and what will keep you motivated.
