Weight a Minute! The Benefits of Exercise

Well, my weight is still frozen at 258.0. Not an ounce beyond that has been lost by me. However, I’m pleased that I’m not gaining, and I’m also pleased that I’m creating within myself some healthy habits that will benefit me in the long run, even if the weight isn’t falling off as fast as I would like. There are many benefits to exercise that go beyond the weight loss. To cheer myself up and to continue to propel myself forward, I thought I’d share some of them today. 1. When I exercise, it boosts my self-esteem. I feel good … Continue reading

Weight a Minute! – Making Friends with Food

I’m now weighing in at 258.0. This is fabulous – I’ve been trying for a long time to get below 260.0, and I’m so glad that I’ve finally done it. My ticker now says that I have 98 pounds to go, as opposed to 100 and above, and I’m delighted. I’ve been going to the gym and riding the recumbent bike all week long, and I’m starting to see a little definition here and there, and also some overall smaller-ness taking place. However, I have been a little sad because I’ve been at 258.0 all week long. I’d hoped to … Continue reading

Weight a Minute! – The Fruit Diet

I have recovered from the Great Potato Salad Debacle of 2007 and am now at 260.2 pounds. It was so not worth eating the potato salad to wander around in 264+ land for two weeks, and I have learned my lesson. I’ve also been off chocolate for over four weeks now. Yeah me! Now, a little while ago I mentioned a fruit diet that gave me a boost in the right direction. I’d like to share a little more of that with you today. I found it in Woman’s World magazine, the July 24th, 2007 edition, page 18. The magazine … Continue reading

Weight a Minute! – The Process of Elimination

Today’s weight: 261.8, down 1.4 pounds since last Monday Yes, in fact, this blog is exactly what you think it’s about. Elimination, or, as my children might say, going potty. A crucial element of weight loss is found in going to the bathroom. We carry around a lot of waste in our bowels, and if we can’t properly move it through, it becomes part of the baggage. When this is the case, our bowels become distended and uncomfortable, and they cause our stomachs to pooch out (most unattractively) in front. In addition, as you start your weight loss program and … Continue reading

New Mommy Must-Haves

When I try to think back on the first month of my daughter’s life, everything is a little hazy. It seems like all I did was hold her, feed her, change her diaper, and sleep. She was a relatively easy baby and slept pretty well from the get-go, but I still felt like I was in some sort of survival mode. Not only did I have a new baby to take care of, but also my poor body took a while to recover from a tough 30-hour labor. I don’t know how I would have made it through the first … Continue reading
