Trying to Lose Weight? Don't Be the Holiday Baker

Trust me, every "foodie" is with you when you talk about how hard it is to try and lose weight over the holidays. We all love to eat. It's okay, you can say it. If you're one of those people who loves everything about food, from the texture to the smell to the preparation, then you're a food lover. Regardless of what the scale says, you'll always be a food lover. And that's okay. Let me say that again-IT IS OKAY TO LOVE FOOD. It's finding the balance between love and sensibility that will get the scale moving down.
You may not be able to avoid all the tempting treats this holiday season (and who would want to?) but there are a few things you can do to help you maintain your weight until New Year's Day rolls around.
Don't be the holiday baker. This may seem simple for some, but if you're the Betty Crocker of your family, it's not. Friends and relatives may be long used to your culinary specialties and delectable goodies over the holiday season. This year, why not pass the apron? I know it's difficult, but if you're truly going to be conscious of your weight, you need to modify your lifestyle. Perhaps still fix the amazing side dishes but eliminate the cookies. Or bake the low-sugar cookies instead of the creamy cheesecake. In short, do what YOU need to do to feel good about your body in the morning. Relatives may whine a little, but in the end, a happier you means a happier everyone.
If you really, really can't go without the smell of holiday goodies baking in the kitchen, invest in a smelly candle. It'll fill your house with the scents you want and save your waistline at the same time.
And remember, nothing is forever. Once you get to a desirable weight, you can bake again-in moderation. But for now, it's best not to completely surround yourself with temptation.
