To The Gym: In Training

My second day at the gym was a learning experience. I met with the personal trainer and she showed me pretty much the same exercises that I had been doing, so I was on the right track. I knew that walking on the treadmill for about 30 minutes was about right for me. I knew which exercises were going to do what I wanted them to do for me. I was right on target there. What I did not know was that my 4-1/2-5 miles of walking that I did 5 days a week really did not impress my body any. Yes, it did not count I was told.

I was told that any walking that I could do would be great. Tips on sneaking in extra walking were given, such as parking further away in the parking lot, etc. I responded with the mileage that I put on every day at work with these poor, tired legs. It didn't count? What?!! It did not count because my body was used to it. How fair is that?!! Okay, I am a person who will not be defeated in most situations. "Fine", I said to myself, "I will walk some more, no problem." I learned the whole routine and then I was on my way. My trainer was great. She did each exercise with the greatest of ease. I did have a little bit of adjusting to do as far as sit-ups went. Her method was a little bit different than mine were. I ended my session and off I went to walk my 30 minutes on the treadmill. I was encouraged because she told me to strive for 30 minutes at an incline of five and a speed of 3 mph, which I was already doing. I was happy, satisfied and ready to get down to business.
