Time to Celebrate! Cleaning Out Your Closet After Weight Lossby Angel Lynn Diamond | More from this Blogger 14 Jan 2009 04:43 PM How exciting! You have just lost a substantial amount of weight and now it is time to celebrate. Do not wait until you have lost all of the weight that you desire and have gotten down to your goal weight. This will only make it too easy not to be careful about regaining what you have lost. Many of us who are trying to lose quite a bit of weight have clothing in several sizes so this could take some time. Start weeding out your closet after you have come down a size. If your goal is to lose more than one size, clean out the larger sized clothing as you come down each size. Not only will it keep you in line with your weight, but also this process will make cleaning and getting rid of the larger sized clothing much easier if done in "steps". You can either sell these clothes, donate them to a friend or donate them to goodwill. Whatever you do though, do not keep them. Keep only one item that you initially wore before you began to lose the weight. This could be a pair of jeans or something else. When I did this, I chose my favorite pair of jeans, my largest size. It is a wonderful feeling to try them on while you are in the weight loss process and see just how big you used to be. If you think that your most favorite outfits can be altered you might want to hang onto those too. Most people cannot replace all of their clothing at one time so treat yourself to maybe one item every couple of weeks or every month depending on your financial situation. If you like you can shop at secondhand stores. There are some great finds there and the price is right. Trying on your old clothes and discovering that they do not fit will keep you motivated in your weight loss journey. You will probably find that your taste has changed somewhat as well and your new clothes that you buy might reflect that. The confidence that you gain when you lose weight will make you enjoy buying clothes once again. Do not be afraid to get a little stylish and buy your clothes in a more fitted style. After all, you deserve it. You have worked very hard!
