There is Hope for Gatorade Lovers!by Lisa P | More from this Blogger 19 Oct 2007 02:14 AM You may love the taste of Gatorade, but the calories you can certainly live without. Perhaps you're sensitive to sugar and have to watch your intake or you're just trying to lose a few pounds and feel that cutting back on calorie laden beverages may help. (It will!) Whatever your reason, the Pepsi Company has finally come up with a solution.
Apparently, the folks at Pepsi are feeling the sting of consumers moving away from soda as sales of carbonated soft drinks fell 4 percent in the second quarter while non-carbonated drinks grew 3 percent. That isn't rocket science. That's the consumers talking and Pepsi is finally listening! Since sales of non-carbonated beverages made up 69 percent of Pepsi's sales in 2006, they have been paying close attention to that market share. When sales of Gatorade, their biggest seller, slowed, they knew that something had to be done. Enter G2. G2 will have only 25 calories per eight-ounce serving (rather than the 50 calories of an eight-ounce serving of the original Gatorade. G2 will be available beginning in December 2007 at convenience stores, gas stations and retail outlets and will come in fruit punch, grape and orange flavors. For those of you who are still drinking soda for the caffeine content, Pepsi has also announced that they'll be introducing a bottled water with caffeine and vitamins called Propel Invigorating Water.
