The Scale Keeps Me Honest

The scale keeps me honest. I’ll admit that I’m intimidated by it. It’s not so bad catching a glimpse of my reflection in a mirror or window. I can handle that because that woman isn’t really me, or so I’ve managed to convince myself. Yet, when I force myself to stand on a scale, I can’t explain away the numbers. Believe me, I’ve tried. Keeping track of my weight helps me to have fewer indulgent moments. Those times when I’ve done more munching than I should have, I work that much harder to resist future urges. I guess that’s why … Continue reading

How often should you weigh yourself?

What kind of a “scale” person would you say you are? Do you weigh yourself every morning? Every evening? Both? Or do you weigh yourself weekly, monthly…or yearly? Or are you like a lot of folks who’d rather not know? I fall into the first category. I admit it—I weigh myself twice a day usually—once in the morning and once in the evening. A Type II Diabetes Journey: Been There, Done That, Can’t Fit into the T-Shirt

I’ve been overweight for about a dozen years. Like most people, I’ve tried just about everything. Some diets have been successful in the short run; others have been complete disasters. I just couldn’t stick with Atkins, and the pounds I did lose came right back on. The only diet that ever really worked was the Healthy Liver Diet, and my family refused to stay on it. … Continue reading

Becoming The Best I Have Ever Been

I used to be one of those women that I envy today: I ate what I wanted, didn’t exercise much and never had a weight problem. That was until I hit my mid-thirties and I became a stay at home wife and then all the years caught up with me without warning. At 5’1″ any extra weight shows and for me; most my my weight decided to take residence from the top of my stomach to the bottom of my thighs. Granted to many my weight of 135 lbs is not so bad but I know what I look like … Continue reading

Momma’s on a Diet: Weigh In: Week 1

So it’s been a week since my diet started and this morning I had to get back on the scales. Having got on them last week and had quite a shock, I wasn’t really looking forward to repeating the experience this week I can tell you! Having done everything possible with the exception of the cat to delay the inevitable, I noticed my hubby and boys standing with their jackets on waiting for me to put mine on ready to leave home to start our work/school day, so ran to the bathroom, jumped on the scales, and read what they … Continue reading
