Slimmer's Choice Weight Loss Bread

We all know that bread, especially white bread, is a diet killer right? Well, now we can have our bread and diet too!
There's a new bread on the market called Slimmer's Choice. The difference is that this bread is made from lupins which are a legume. The trick of course is that it makes people full and so they eat less. A University of Washington Study showed that people who at Slimmer's Choice, ate 30% less calories during the course of the meal.
The participants in the study ate lupin or white bread sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. All of the participants were asked to eat until they felt 'comfortably full.' Very consistently, the lupin eating group ate about 30% less calories than did the white bread group. The study was small and still needs to be duplicated, but if this is true. . .I'm sure this'll add a new twist to the Subway Diet!
Lupin kernel flour is very high in protein and fibre and has almost no carbohydrates. There have been numerous studies now that have shown that this combination is one that helps people feel more full and thus leads to more weight loss.
Bohdi's Bakehouse in Washington created the bread after many trials. Participants had positive reviews about the bread although they said it was a little heavier than regular bread. They also remarked that eating the lupin seemed to act as an appetite suppressant.
The next study will be conducted over 12 months and will look to see whether or not the first set of participants are able to keep the weight off by eating lupin bread. It will also check to see whether or not eating lupin has any positive (or negative) effects on cholesterol and overall heart health.
Currently, Slimmer's Choice is only sold in one supermarket chain in Washington state (IGA) but if studies go well, this could be the next big diet product to buy!
