Diary of an Overweight Mom: Is Anyone Losing Weight Now?

I’m curious—who out there is losing weight right now? Who is resisting the temptations of holiday goodies? Who is opting for spiced tea rather than a peppermint mocha with whipped cream? I want to hear from you! I’m still on my cookie strike…mostly. I did eat one today, but that was because I created a recipe (check it out on the food blog) for Honey Granola Cookies With Apricots and I had to try one. But that’s all I tried. Just one. I did not continually make my way back to the kitchen, daring my will power to take over. … Continue reading

National Honey Month

September is National Honey Month. What a sweet time of year! I have to admit I found honey to be an acquired taste. I began taking honey to relive seasonal allergies. It worked like a charm and I have not had to take allergy medicine in years. If you plan on using honey for that purpose you will need to purchase local honey. So what can you do for nausea (whether it’s related to medications … Continue reading

Free Samples of Traditional Medicinal Tea

Like a lot of bloggers here, I’m trying to lose weight. More importantly, I’m trying to make a healthier me. Part of that means going as natural as I can with food. I’ve cut out a lot of processed foods, fried foods, and unnecessary chemicals. And I’ve started to add a lot more tea. I actually like the taste of unsweetened green tea. It has to be made correctly, with the bag steeping for only 30 seconds, or it gets bitter. But there’s nothing quite so comforting as a hot cup of good quality tea on a chilly night. The … Continue reading

The Abs Diet – Eating Right the First Time

So what makes a power food in the Abs Diet? I want to explore that a little here, as we get ready to tackle our Sizzling Summer Slim Down. I also wanted to share a little gem – since adjusting my diet to follow the Abs Diet recommended power foods – my mocha cravings are evaporating. As some of you who read the Fitness blog may know. I am extremely addicted to Starbuck’s mochas. The expense alone should be enough to turn me off, but even the expense can’t make my cravings go away. Daily, I find myself in the … Continue reading
