Summer Concert Scrapbooks

Country music may reign supreme deep in the heart of Texas, but here in Northern Wisconsin people are quite fond of boot scootin’ too. In fact, the Dairy State is home to one of the premier country music and camping festivals in the nation, Country USA. My country music-loving neighbor just returned from the multi-day concert which featured the likes of Sugarland, Keith Urban and The Band Perry. She ended up renting a VIP RV with a bunch of friends rather than camp in a tent. Judging by all of the photos she shared with me, she and her pals … Continue reading

Win Free Bread for a Year from Nature’s Pride

How much bread do you, and your family, go through in a year? It probably totals out to much more than you might think. Bread adds quite a bit to your weekly grocery bill. Nature’s Pride is celebrating it’s anniversary by giving someone free bread for an entire year. That winner could be you! Bread is an important part of the diets of most people. You might start your day with a few slices of toast. Lunches typically include a sandwich, (on some variety of bread). You can’t make a “PB and J” without a few slices of bread. The … Continue reading

Nothing will get the blood pumping and burn the calories like a good ole gun fight. It’s autumn and the kids are back in school but that does not mean they have to stop playing outside. TruMoo Chocolate Milk: Healthy Alternative

My children are huge chocolate milk fans. They will ask for it weekly and if allowed would go through a half gallon or more a day between them. I would love to buy but most often chocolate milk is filled with artificial ingredients and high fructose corn syrup. I buy nothing with high fructose corn syrup. I could purchase organic but it is very expensive. I already purchase organic white milk so I just stop there. I have in a pinch allowed them to add chocolate syrup to organic white milk. However, that seemed like a sin to the organic … Continue reading

Changing Old Habits

A reader recently e-mailed me the following question: “Help! I’m a reformed spender trying hard to make the finances work, but in my spouse’s eyes I still haven’t changed enough. It’s ruining our marriage. What do I do?” First off, I commend this reader for making these important changes. It sounds as though they have made their marriage the top priority and they are focused on improving their relationship as well as their finances. I’m sorry to say, though, that there is only one thing that is going to solve this dilemma, and that is time. It takes time for … Continue reading

Mama’s Crush is on “Sesame Street”

Hooray for fall! The change of seasons (which officially took place a few hours ago) is reason to celebrate for this mama. First, it means the end of “Sesame Street” reruns. And by reruns I mean the incessant re-airing of the WASCAR Squirmadega Car Race in which Slimely the Worm and a bunch of other creepy crawlers are taught that it’s okay to lose, as long as you do your best, and that the word “speedy” means “fast.” I’m not sure who is in charge of programming at PBS, but, seriously, if I have to hear Elmo whining about how … Continue reading
