Momma's on a Diet: Weigh In: Week 1

So it's been a week since my diet started and this morning I had to get back on the scales. Having got on them last week and had quite a shock, I wasn't really looking forward to repeating the experience this week I can tell you! Having done everything possible with the exception of the cat to delay the inevitable, I noticed my hubby and boys standing with their jackets on waiting for me to put mine on ready to leave home to start our work/school day, so ran to the bathroom, jumped on the scales, and read what they said. Then I stepped off them again, and jumped back on - this time a little more cautiously. And then I did it again, just to make sure I wasn't seeing things!

The reason for the multiple weigh-ins was because the numbers were amazing. I've lost a few pounds in my first week of dieting before, but never to this extent. In my first week of what I hope will be my successful and last attempt at weight loss, I lost a staggering 8 lb! The strange thing is that I don't think I felt hungry at all during that time - and I've even found a mini-chocolate cookie that's only 0.5 of a point and so I can have 2 of them with my coffee mid-morning and I'm not feeling deprived at all!

I was motivated before I weighed in this morning, but now I'm really hyped up! I can do this! I will do this! My sweetheart hubby, whilst being impressed, is advising me that this is a first week thing and next week will be probably the recommended 2 lb - or even less - as my body gets used to the new eating plan, and he's right. I know that this kind of loss isn't normal, and if it was it wouldn't be a good thing as I'd end up with loose belly skin keeping my socks up, but as I enter week 2 of the diet, it's a wonderful incentive to keep going!

Sounds like an excellent start.

Thanks! Just hope it continues. It's encouraging though. I've twice started a diet in the past year and each time have lost only half a pound in the first week - not exactly good motivation as this is supposed to be the "big" lose time. With the pounds lost this week, I'm real psyched up to keep going - even if next week is a low loss to compensate.
