Momma’s on a Diet: Slimmer Area Discovered!

Last week I was blogging about the fact that despite losing a fair number of pounds, I couldn’t locate where they’d disappeared from. I look the same. I feel the same. My clothes fit the same – OK so the clothes aren’t a good choice because I always wear them baggy anyway, but you get the idea! It was a little disconcerting to say the least that so many pounds could be lost and for them to have been seemingly invisible! But then, a couple of days ago, I found them! Over and over again I’ve heard that in order … Continue reading

Losing Weight Means Finding Out What Works For You

Have you heard the weight loss story of Roger Troy Wilson, the author of the book Let’s Do Lunch? He went from 425 pounds and a 60 inch waist to 195 pounds and a 36 inch waist after devising his own weight loss plan. He claims that he developed his weight loss regimen through trial and error. He makes four suggestions to help you get started. 1. Eat enough fruit each day to curb your cravings for sweets. 2. Lunch should be your main meal and it should be protein packed. 3. Succumb to cravings, if you must, but choose … Continue reading

Weight a Minute! – The Week that Wasn’t

I’m not going to post a weight at the top of this blog. It’s not because I’m ashamed of it (well, yeah, I am, but that’s another story.) This week got away from me in a wild, wacky, and weighty way. I started out great. I got down to 259.2 and was able to edit my tickers. (If you haven’t created a ticker for yourself over in forums, you really need to. It’s way too much fun.) I was so proud of myself, feeling skinny, loving life. And then Thursday happened. When I woke up on Thursday and went to … Continue reading

Momma’s on a Diet: So What’s Missing?

I’m now on week 4 of my diet and it’s going rather well – even if I do say so myself. I’m now 17 lb lighter than when I started. That’s without depriving myself of food, or even doing any exercise! The program is working for me. I will get to the exercise in the next few weeks, really I will – I’m even motivated to do this because I’ve seen such terrible photos of people who’ve lost a lot of weight and then had all this saggy redundant skin to carry around! But for now, my eating habits are … Continue reading

Menopause and Weight Loss

Aging is an inevitable factor of life and so is menopause. This passage of life can occur when a woman is between the ages of 35 and 60. The age range is so wide because this natural occurrence is unique to the individual. It is believed that a woman will experience menopause close to the age that her mother went through it. Outside factors like a hysterectomy or radiation treatment can bring about menopause early. This life event can take more than a decade to run its course. There are three stages: perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. When a woman has … Continue reading

4 Tips to Help You Keep Your Resolution

As I blogged yesterday, my New Year’s Resolution is to lose weight – again.  The thing about making weight loss a resolution is that so many people do it (especially after all those holiday pounds!), but many fail to follow through. What can you do to keep your resolution?  There are a few hints from psychologist John Norcross on how to keep those resolutions: Believe it can be done. That’s right – don’t let the haters keep you down, saying “You can’t do that.”  Believe in yourself that you can succeed. Be realistic. I am never going to weigh 120 … Continue reading

Turns Out it’s not just the Kids!

A couple of my blogs this week (“Cars” is Breeding in my House, and Counting the Years with Merchandising) have been pondering on the very successful merchandising efforts of Disney, and reflecting on how much stuff we’ve bought for our kids, and how payment for this must be helping to keep Disney employees paid. Continuing my thoughts on this (with 2 preschoolers, a freelance business, and a home – and hubby to take care of, you need to let your mind work on something pathetically unimportant now and then just to keep the stress levels down), I realized that it’s … Continue reading
