Fad Diets: All You Can Eat in a Week

This one is another starvation diet with a very low calorie count every day. Although it can be attractive by telling you to have “all you can eat”, the monotony of eating only a single food every day can lead you to abstain from eating at all later in the day because you just can’t bear to eat that one flavor again. On Day #1, you can eat all the fresh fruit you want (but only fruit) except for bananas. This can be a hard day on one’s intestines if you aren’t used to consuming a lot of fruit or … Continue reading

Fad Diets: The Three Day Diet

Please understand that although I don’t recommend these fad diets, I do know that they exist. I’d like to address a few of them and explain exactly why they can be dangerous (and why they seem to work). The first I’d like to address is one that I’m all too familiar with, The Three Day Diet. On my diet days, I eat oatmeal or special K cereal for breakfast, fruit and a little cheese for snacks. I make a pot of soup or chili and eat that for lunch and dinner. On my off days, I eat “normal”. This means making sure I eat a good breakfast, a decent but healthy lunch, and I try to eat a lighter dinner with a little dessert. During the week, these days … Continue reading

Looking for my waist: Chronic Under Eating

I am a chronic under eater. It is 10:30 right now, and I have not had a bite to eat. No one who knows my eating habits understands why I am over weight. Diet pills do not work because the goal of them is to make me eat less. I really do not have a problem with that. This might sound crazy from someone whose goal is to lose 100 pounds (95 to go), but it is very true. My body lives in a mode of starvation. I am often sluggish, tired and cranky. Any attempt to lose weight on … Continue reading
