Lose 5 Pounds with Yoplait!

I only eat one kind of brand of yogurt. I walk through the dairy aisle of my store and pass up half a dozen brands to get to my favorite. A few times a good sale caught my wandering eye and I cheated on my favorite brand with another. Each time I was disappointed and begged forgiveness to the only yogurt for me. All other yogurts are runny, have boring flavors or have that distinct yogurty taste I dislike. Are you suggesting that I really don’t like yogurt? I’ve considered that myself many times. Yet, my Yoplait never disappoints in … Continue reading

How many calories do I burn blogging?

Like many of you, I often feel that exercise does not fit into my daily routine. I’m a mom to four children, wife, dog parent, blogger and writer. My day begins with a yawn and very often ends with a yawn. In between all of that, I find my eating habits suffer or are nonexistent. One can hardly call grabbing a bagel or a protein bar in the midst of chaos an eating habit as it is more like an eating disaster. So, between chasing kids, writing articles and eating on a semi regular basis while only dreaming of that … Continue reading

Weight a Minute! A Few of My Not Favorite Things

Nights without sleeping and children with yelling, Hours on footsies with frantic-paced selling, Trying to cope with the stress it all brings – These are a few of my not favorite things . . . Lisa Pietsch has been telling me for a long time that I need to get more sleep and reduce stress if I want to lose weight. I understand the principle, but to understand it and then to apply it are two entirely different things. With four small children, books to finish editing, a house to clean, and home schooling, my life is pretty hectic. Then … Continue reading

Why am I Writing this Weight Loss Blog?

I have never found an online forum on weight loss where the moderator/writer was someone who had been obese and made it to “the other side”. Who better to talk with people who want to lose weight than someone who has felt their pain and been through everything that they are going through? I am passionate about this topic because I live it! At my heaviest, I weighed 265. I’m not proud of that, but I don’t mind saying it because I know that there are other people out there who have gone over that 200-pound mark and they may … Continue reading

Just a Few Pounds. . .

That’s what happens isn’t it? We gain a few pounds here and a few pounds there and we’re no longer in the realm of healthy. A few pounds here and there isn’t that bad. Why? Because it’s only a couple. No one bats an eye lash when you go from 135 to 137. Then maybe the next year you go from 137 to 139. . .and well, you see the pattern. And just how do you gain a couple of pounds here and there? By slowly changing your habits. Lots of college freshman gain the “freshman 15” because no one … Continue reading

Bear With Me…Just a Short Vent About “Mentality”

“I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be snobby or anything but people who think $8/hour is “great money” are forever destined to be poor and desperate. That’s just life folks. I’m amazed at how defensive people are about it, too”. First of all, let me start by telling you that I am going to vent tonight. While I try to use my blogging job as an opportunity to inspire and encourage other home-based moms (and dads), I am annoyed tonight and need to let off a bit of steam. I am an active member of a work-at-home forum where someone … Continue reading

Good morning and Happy Monday and welcome to our first Fitness Review of a DVD workout available for rental through Netflix or purchase at Amazon. I decided to look at Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds: Power Mile for my first DVD review. Walking happens to be one of my favorite activities and I enjoy anything that gets me out and moving on my feet whether it’s walking the dog, walking the kids to school or walking on the treadmill while I watch my soaps. The Power Mile workout is described as one that will help you walk your way … Continue reading

Post-Natal Fitness: So You Just Had a Baby ….

Congratulations! You just had a baby. About six years ago this month, I’d just had a baby too and I have to admit, one of the first things I thought about after I got some of my energy back was how do I get back into shape. There are no hard and fast rules in post-natal fitness except that you need to listen to your body. So let’s talk about that. Having a Baby is Traumatic When you give birth whether it’s a vaginal delivery or a c-section, you need to give your body time to recover. Don’t make any … Continue reading

Want to Lose Weight? Just Watch Dancing With the Stars

I’m sitting here after eating too many cookies, watching Dancing With the Stars. Mario and Karina are sashaying across the dance floor right now. Their moves are great, but all I can think is, “My gosh, I wish I could wear that outfit.” Seriously. It barely covers anything, but it looks elegant. And with abs of steel, who cares if you bare your midriff? Heck, I’d be baring it all too if I had that figure. Have you seen these dancers bodies on Dancing With the Stars? They put any movie star out there to sheer shame. But I’m sure … Continue reading
