The whole idea of a diet is to not only decrease the amount of weight that you are carrying around, but also to develop new and healthful eating habits. If you just work to get your weight down and do not concentrate on a new eating lifestyle as well you will lose the weight, but you will most likely not keep the weight off.

Millions of people go on diets each year in order to rid themselves of weight and they are successful a good part of the time. However, many also go back to eating the same way that they had previously. They do not continue practicing their healthful eating habits that they learned while dieting to get the weight off. They know how to do it. They just choose not to. We all love delicious food, but there are some people that for some reason, probably heredity, cannot indulge as much as the person next to you. I am not saying to deny yourself all of the time, but for the most part you need to keep in line with your healthy eating patterns.

Below are a list of foods that will benefit your health in some way. Practice making them a part of your regular diet.

Grapefruit: Eating these will decrease your appetite and insulin levels. Grapefruits will increase your metabolic rate.

Almonds: Very high in nutrition and a good energy food.

Hot Peppers: Hot and spicy foods are beneficial weight loss foods. Metabolism booster.

Blueberries: These contain antioxidants and help you combat diseases. Energy boosting food.

Apples: Apples fill you up or at least make you think that you are filled up. They contain pectin, which decreases your cell fat absorption.

Broccoli: A food that helps to ward off cancer. This vegetable contains iron, vitamins A and C, calcium, and magnesium. Very low in caloric count.

Putting dieting on the back burner for a few minutes, consider making these foods a part of your daily nutrition and get back your health.
