Exercising the Brain

What do you think about when you are exercising? You can make exercising zip right on by when you use your brain. I love to exercise, but I have to admit that every once in a while it does become monotonous. This is one of the reasons that I switch my exercise routines around every once in a while. If I become bored too often I will not want to exercise and exercising does need to be consistent in order for it to be effective.

When I exercise I either listen to music or daydream. Listening to music is great. In combination with the body movements, it is a double stress reliever. It does make the time working out seem minimal as well. After listening to about six songs, I am finished. The music also helps me with my rhythm. If you exercise to the beat of the music you can get yourself locked into a smooth flowing pattern and look pretty good.

Daydreaming is awesome while exercising. My mind takes me from the day's events, to my to do list, to counting calories, to the beach, back ten years, and back to my home base, my brain. This is also a great time accelerator. This, believe it or not, is when I do my best thinking. Random ideas pop into my head and problem solving is done too. It is like killing two birds with one stone, excuse my expression. When I am finished, I have come to terms with different aspects of my life and I am healthier in my body.

Some people enjoy watching television while exercising. That is okay too. I do it myself occasionally. Whatever keeps you motivated to keep moving is what you need to do for yourself in order to accomplish your healthy goals. For me, however, I love to exercise my brain while I exercise my body.
