Diary of an Overweight MOM-Day 2

Morning Weight: 183.6 Weight Loss: 1.6 lbs.

Whoa! I can hear the conversations starting already. "How could she have lost so much weight in one day?"

Before you throw out all the bread in your house, let me let you in on a little secret. When you go on a low-carb diet, you're going to lose weight very quickly the first week. But don't be deceived. It's water weight. As a dieting professional (hehe) I can tell you that just as quickly as you lose ten pounds in one week on a low-carb diet, you can gain it all back plus a few more in a matter of two days.

That said, after eating fewer carbohydrates for two days now, I'm feeling better. My energy is up already. I don't feel as "middle" heavy, and surprisingly, my bread cravings are starting to fade already. But I've been here before; so many times I've lost count. I eat less, weigh less, and start to feel good, then WHAM! Out of nowhere I decide to eat a sandwich, or decide to really go out on a limb and eat pasta. The next thing I know I feel bloated, puffy, and huge. Instead of going back to low carb I throw in the towel, admit defeat, and fix my family homemade macaroni and cheese because, hey, let's face it; I'm a diet ding-dong (Hmmm..Ding Dongs...those sound good right about now).

Here's how my day shaped up:

Breakfast: Scrambled eggs

Lunch: Chicken taco salad again

Snack: Ham roll up (just ham rolled up-nothing exciting), 1 strawberry, 3 stalks of celery with 1 TB peanut butter.

Dinner: Leftover homemade turkey meatballs, low-carb coleslaw

We'll see what tomorrow brings. How have your first two days gone? Good I hope. I didn't exercise yet. I meant to. I thought about it. I even dreamt about it last night, but this morning the shower called to me more than my workout shoes.

If there's any recipes you'd like to see to help you with your own eating plan, let me know and I'll post them on the food blog. In the meantime, I'll try to link below to some of the recipes I've been eating.

Chicken Taco Salad Red Cabbage Coleslaw

Hey you!

You're doing awesome, and you're inspiring. I was thinking about you yesterday while I was on the Healthrider, wondering if you were doing better than me. :) I was great until the call of the wild PMS hit and there went a box of Hostess cupcakes. But I'm with you, girl, I'm with you!

Hehe--sorry, Tristi, I had to laugh about the cupcakes. Darn PMS! :-) For me, it was a bowl of Cheeze-its last night. My exercise plan for today flopped but I've been eating well, so we'll see what the scale screams at me tomorrow. :-) Thanks for being with me. Keep me updated on your days please--the good and the bad--because they are all part of life and part of the process. And by the way, woohoo about the Healthrider--you go girl!

Yeah, I sort of laughed at the cupcakes too. :) I've decided I'm going to need to get a scale. I had a digital one which I loved because it shows half pounds, but my sons played with it a little too much so I actually haven't had the chance to regularly weigh. I'll take care of that soon.

I finally got a digital scale too. The other ones leave too much confusion, and truthfully, if I'm doing this, I want to know the ounces! Weighing myself daily is a bit tricky because sometimes our bodies retain water, etc, so if it's suddenly up a bit one day it's going to be hard. Gotta keep going though. Good luck!

OH how I can relate to the cupcake storie! Thats funny that you brought that up. My daughter loves those ding dongs.ho ho's and twinkies. I made the mistake buying them for her and when I "fell off the wagon" thats what I went for. I should know better then to have them in the house. She dosent need them either. But I Know she likes to have them in her lunch as that special treat!

NO WAY will I buy those from the store. I almost did last week but then thought better of it--I love those bad-for-my-waist kid snacks...too much. Hehehe
