Did you know that in everything that we do we are burning calories? Yes, that is right. Even the little insignificant movements that we make or even just sitting still, we burn calories. We have been given amazing bodies. Our bodies work in a way that even when we are doing nothing, we are doing something. Our bodies never stop working. Of course, the more active that we are physically, the more calories we will burn.

Just in case you were not aware here are some examples of just how many calories are burned in 30 minutes during the everyday activities that we do:

Eating: 70 calories Shopping: 45 calories Standing: 50 calories Desk work: 65 calories Washing up/showering: 130 calories Sitting while reading or watching television: 35 calories Light housecleaning: 50 calories Moderate housecleaning: 65 calories Sleeping: 30 calories Taking care of the children: 60 calories Driving a car: 60 calories

The light activities that you do every day can add up, but do not make the mistake of counting them in to your normal exercise routine. Consider these light activities as somewhat of "bonus" points.

To really make your calories burned effective concerning weight loss it is important to find an activity that you really enjoy. Find an activity that does not seem like "work" or exercise. You will want to pick an activity that does not make you groan when you think about it or dread doing. That is the key to a good fitness routine and consistency. If you are participating in an activity that you really enjoy then instead of feeling like you just cannot do it, you will be anxious and excited about doing it. It will not be a chore to you, but rather give you a feeling of a burst of energy. You might still be a little tired afterward, but it will be that good kind of tired.

Whatever you do while attempting to obtain optimal physical fitness status, stay busy. If you are busy you will not have time to focus on food or other things that will distract you in achieving your goals.
