Becoming a Healthier Wifeby Melissa J | More from this Blogger 16 Jan 2007 06:36 PM When I made my marital vows to my husband, putting on weight and feeling too tired for housework or intimacy was not a part of them! I was supposed to be his beautiful bride, someone he would want to love, honor and cherish for life. I've been wonderfully blessed with a husband who has never made mention of me being overweight in a negative way. He has truly loved me not showing shame with me, and this is a huge reason why I believe he deserves to have me be a healthier and more beautiful wife. I wasn't prepared for my metabolism to slow down so much as I got a bit older. As I was gaining weight, I felt I had the rest of my life to lose it and become healthier. Throw in a couple exhausting kids, time working at a computer, a fast food lifestyle and I had some of the ideal ingredients for a heavier "me". This is not how I want to live the rest of my life. So, what I did was I got my husband a gym membership too! Not only can we spend some quality time working out together, but we are both working toward being healthier. I hope the more I work out, the better I will feel. I want my husband to look at me and be proud. I hear what you are saying, and have been there before! Now I am trying to be supportive of my dh in his new quest to lose weight. He has taken up raquetball, and smaller portions. I am going to beging eliminating certain foods in our home, in order to help him. I wish I could play raquetball alongside him...but with the kids, and no sitter...well, it's just not going to happen. But that's great that you and your dh can do it together! It will make it go be faster, and make it more fun too! Julie Gentry (5915) 16 Jan 2007 08:48 PMAgreed. The big one for me is getting the food out of the house. I have no self-control with food, especially chocolate and ice cream (even better, chocolate ice cream!). I've been doing well this year (all of two weeks. lol) in large part because dh has wanted to lose weight, so neither he nor my dad bring home the dreaded (and delicious) Rocky Road. mommyof05angels (33) 29 Jun 2008 05:39 PMI totally agree with your blog. I have finally stuck to my diet this year so i will be that beautiful wife. I am happy to say i have lost 35 pounds and a lot more to go. But what shock me was my dh decided last week to start loseing the weight he put on too. I am here if you need to talk or support.
