Baby Belly Daysby Angel Lynn Diamond | More from this Blogger 16 Jun 2009 05:24 AM Certain days in my life can provoke more thought and emotion than others. This is today. Before I had my baby years ago, I was quite thin. I was also younger and taller. I wore a size 8, which is like the equivalent now to about a size 4. I felt pretty good about myself. I discovered that soon my belly would be expanding and I was ecstatic. I had been waiting for what seemed like forever to me. I was very careful about what I ate. I ate healthy, exercised and made sure that I did not gain too much. I gained 27 pounds, which was pretty good, I thought. My doctor was pleased. I gained almost exclusively in my stomach and I was told that I was huge, but that I looked like I had a basketball under my shirt. My baby was born. The next day I felt like I could do it all over again. It was miraculous. Gaining weight while you are pregnant is important. You do need to gain some weight. However, gaining too much weight is not good for you or your baby. If you eat right and get some type of exercise you will be fine. Walking is wonderful for pregnant women. If you gain just enough to keep the baby healthy after the baby is born you will not have too much to lose. I ended up needing to lose about 7 pounds after mine was born. I did it within a few weeks without even trying. Weight loss and pregnancy do not go together. This is not the time to think about weight loss. You will have plenty of time later on to do this. If you are overweight and pregnant try not to worry too much about it. Instead concentrate on eating healthy and limit your portions to an average size. Do not overeat. You might find that you do not gain too much weight with your pregnancy and that it okay just as long as you are eating as I stated above. After your baby is born and you are wanting to lose weight get into some regular type of exercise program. This is a wonderful time to exercise. You have company now, your baby. Get the stroller out and make it a point to go for a walk every day. I would take my baby out right before nap time and by the end of the walk he was out cold. I would gather him up in my arms and place him in his crib. I was then able to either rest myself or get some more exercise in. When he became older we exercised together. He understood the importance of eating healthy and getting exercise by the time he was 2 years old. Enjoy your pregnancy, eat right, get some exercise, and do not fret. Once your baby is born, start high tailing it down the road with your baby in tow. The weight will fall off sooner than you think. Angel Lynn writes in weight loss, single parenting, and health.
