A Challenge for May Dieters

Trying honoring your mother in the month of May by taking better care of yourself. Remember, you are someone's baby too. Here are a few ideas to challenge you with in the month of May:

  • Experiment with a healthy recipe every week - take advantage of Spring produce!
  • Set aside an hour or two - plan your meals for the week - try to balance your protein, vitamins and see if you can prepare your grocery list for that week
  • It's warm outside - plan a new activity to try out - go swimming, go to a skating rink, check out the bowling alley, go for a hike or take the kids on a bike ride.
  • If you hear yourself talking bad about yourself - stop it and say something nice.
  • Practice positive affirmations - say things like "I will honor my Mother by being kinder to myself."
  • Compliment someone everyday for something really great about them.
  • Keep a list of personal achievements. Remember to give yourself a pat on the back.
  • Go to bed a little earlier each evening - remember what you tell your own kids - they need their sleep so they won't be cranky - you do too.
  • Take some downtime - curl up and read a book or spend it with a loved one - remember rushing around all the time is hardly worth it if you cannot enjoy it.

Remember, dieting is about lifestyle changes. A lifestyle change is about taking control and feeling better about you. You can begin that by honoring your mother this month - take the challenge and take better care of yourself.
