The Curse of the Halloween Candy

What is the scariest part of Halloween? It isn't the horror movies or the things that go bump in the night (unless it is your tummy hitting the side of the bathroom door when you get up to pee). No, it is all of that Halloween candy. Our family isn't really big on Halloween.

I'm not doing terribly well in the weight loss department. After a warm and sunny summer and September, we've had some of what Winnie-the-Pooh would definitely call "blustery days". I just want to curl up by the fireplace and listen to the rain on the roof.

For the past few days, in our house, the heat has actually been going on in the mornings and sometimes even in the early afternoon. The tick-tick-tick of the baseboard heat has a sort of soothing sound. This morning, waiting for the school bus with my son, we were jumping up and down to keep warm.
